Cheap PC For TV Multimedia System

Hey Guys.

I looking for a PC shop that can supply me with a cheap PC for home entertainment (not gaming) Something i can connect to my home theatre system that i can watch movies, play music etc.

Any reccomendations?? (JHB Area)

What about one of these?
I know a friend with one. It's made for home entertainment, so it should suit your needs (unless you want a PC for another specific reason).

EDIT: I just noticed that it's been discontinued. Even so, you should still be able to find one, or at least something similar.

I think a PC would be more versatile. Ive gotta 2tb external HDD running with my PS3. So thats pretty much the same. But i want to download movies from the TV aswell (Not using PS3)

Oh. Well, what is your budget?

If I were you, I would build my own PC. It always works out cheaper.

If that's not an option, just look at Makro, Game, Matrix Computers or PC Pro Shop. They are the only shops I know of that have physical stores. You do also get a lot of small, local PC shops. You would have to ask people in your area about that, though.

If you can order online, you should check out ComX Computers and Digital Planet.

I can vouch for Digital Planet's reliability. I've ordered a graphics card from them with no issues.

I think it would be fine for light usage such as watching moves, listening to music and browsing the internet but it might struggle to do anything else.

Also, Windows 7 Starter has a lot of limitations. Make sure that you're fine with them before you buy this.

It also has no HDMI output, so even if your TV is HD compatible, you would still have to use VGA.

Media Centre would suit your budget better... It's quite a useful gadget. And you would probably get a very nice one if you wanted to go all the way to R3k.
